Sustainability for Gaspeco derives from our desire to be an efficient and responsible partner for both employees, customers and collaborators and for society, by respecting the environment and providing communities with clean combustion products, less polluting compared to traditional fuels and in this way, we contribute together to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals*.
Introduction to LPG
LPG is a widely used, clean-burning, portable fuel. It is produced today primarily as an unavoidable by-product derived from crude oil and natural gas production and refining. Marketed as Propane and Butane, or as a combination of both, LPG is used globally for many different applications.
LPG sources are extensive; a global LPG surplus exists and is projected to continue for the next decade. As of 2017, global LPG production exceeded consumption by around six million metric tonnes, demonstrating both its potential and that it is, at present, an underutilised resource. Some of the surplus is vented or flared at oil and gas production sites, sending carbon back into the atmosphere. Using it instead for applications such as clean cooking is a better use of this valuable fuel resource.
Gaspeco’s sustainability is based mainly on the following four areas of interest:
A.Health, Safety, Security and Environment– certificates and procedures that certify the importance that our company assigns to employee safety in order to achieve our objective of monitoring risks aiming to minimize any possible incident.
B.Promoting LPG, which contributes to EU environmental and climate goals, as a clean-burning alternative fuel that produces lower levels of carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and other pollutants compared to traditional fuels. In addition, it emits almost no black carbon (BC) and, if accidentally spilled, will not pollute the soil or aquifers. Using it to replace traditional fuels, decrease emissions and protects forests by reducing deforestation.

*17 goals to transform the world globally
In 2015, United Nations (UN) Member States approved the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development providing a global “blueprint for action” on an urgent range of sustainable development imperatives. Within this Agenda are 17 SDGs which collectively constitute a global action agenda for all countries to work on together.
